Pablo's Hot Diggity Dog Party!

Pablo Turns 9 years old! We celebrated his first birthday with us by throwing a mini paw-ty!

 Theme: Hot Diggity Dog Party!

Goodie Bags: For each pup that we invited, we gave them a Retro Dog bandana, party hat (highly recommended for extra fun and cuteness!), a customized mini water bowl, and a print of our custom hot diggity dog signage.

Decorations: We went with the "Lets Pawty" balloons and some happy birthday banners that we purchased from Amazon.

One of the main attraction was the Hot Diggity Dog Hot Dog bar signage we had drawn by one of our close friends. We paired each pup with a signature hot dog combination!

Pablo's Birthday Cake: Because we can't forget this one! I actually decided on doing mini pupcakes because we had a bunch of doggos in our yard. See our recipe below.

Apple Cheddar Pupcakes

Food (for the humans):

>> Main course - A hot dog bar! My dad also made some bomb homemade chili. Other top hits to add to the hot dog bar spread included elote corn in a cup with hot cheetos on the side, rice for the chili and sesame chicken salad.

>>Snacks & Desserts - chips and dip, watermelon and pineapple, layered jello, furikake chex mix, cocoa mochi, cream puffs, cupcakes and more!

RECIPE: Apple Cheddar Pupcakes with cream cheese frosting

Yield: 18 - 24 mini pupcakes

Ingredients:
Pupcake
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup freshly grated apple (or unsweetened applesauce)
1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil
2 eggs
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

2 tbl greek, plain and unsweetened yogurt

Frosting
1/2 cup greek yogurt

2 oz low fat cream cheese

Topping

mini milkbones

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Mix the grated apples, oil, eggs, yogurt, and cheese together.
3. In a separate bowl, combine flour and oats.
4. Add dry to wet ingredients.
5. Spoon into mini cupcake pan.
6. Bake 18-20 minutes till cooked.
7. Cool and frost. To make frosting - combine yogurt and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.

If these pupcakes aren't consumed the day of, I recommend storing in the fridge as these cakes contain dairy.
My pup absolutely loved these pupcakes and because most of the dogs at the pawty were smaller breeds, the mini cakes were the perfect size! I only gave my pup a maximum of 2 of these cakes since they include dairy and cheese which can be fattening.
